Store Returns: What to Do with Totally Unsellable Clothing
Posted by Big Brand Wholesale.com on 27th Mar 2020
Today I am going to fundamentally change the way you look at your "junk" clothing inventory. You will seriously love this article! I'm so excited to share this with you. Let's get started!!!
If you buy Store Returns, Liquidations or Salvage, eventually you will come across merchandise that you feel is “trash” BUT before you EVER throw anything away it is important to “piece part” it.
Zippers - Especially zippers that say YKK! YKK is the “expensive” zipper brand that is usually on more pricey clothing. You can look at the actual zipper pull and see if it says YKK:
Graphics and Patterns - Junk graphic tops make these make ADORABLE pillows!
I have also seen seriously awesome quilts made from graphic tops
Buttons - A trashed shirt can still have totally fantastic buttons that can be used to fix a different item. Or, if you have a ton of buttons you can even sell the buttons
Tops in general - can be made into tote bags
Material! - You never want to throw away jean, silk, leather, fur, cashmere or any form of material that has value. Have you ever been to the fabric store? Material is SOOOO Expensive, especially for “fancy” materials or premium materials. A pair of trashed jeans or leather pants can be made into bracelets, headbands, small purses and more. A cashmere scarf with a hole in it can be made into pocket squares or other items. Even if YOU do not craft, other people do! Never throw out good material! These headbands and bracelets are made from trashed tops:
Patches and Embellishments - Obviously a patch is an item that can be reused. Equally, material in general can be used as a patch :)
Badass Home Decor - Like OMG, aren't these adorable coasters / cocktail napkins?
Or check out this seriously cool shirt-to-art. You could do with with ANY neat-looking material:
Pockets - Its a pocket! Especially if you have Levis jeans pockets or an awesome pocket, this can be perfect for a purse.
Lace / Trim - Trim is another item that can be very expensive to buy. Getting repurposed trim is a dream come true for an etsy seller.
Junk Shirts in General - We keep junk tees to use as rags at work. The cotton ones are amazing.
