Genuine Advice for New Online Sellers Part 3: Bad Advice vs Good Advice and Avoiding Scams

Posted by Big Brand Wholesale.com on 6th Mar 2020

Listen to other people… but consider the source....

Have you ever felt sick and went to the internet to find out what is wrong with you…. Then discovered, according to internet authors, you are definitely dying! Cancer! Heart Disease! Low Thyroid! Rush to ER NOW!!!!

I had one of these situations happen to me a couple years back. I had this pain in my ear. Really awful pain that started on a Friday night. The internet told me I am probably losing my hearing! I am going to be deaf in one ear OR it could be fatal.

After a weekend of panic, I was able to see my doctor Monday afternoon. Turns out, I just had some water trapped in my ear. A couple ear drops totally solved it.

One of my biggest pet peeves ever is Youtubers that give “advice” on something they have never done. I equally can’t stand authors who write business guides when they have never owned a business. It really drives me nuts. I mean, it seriously annoys the heck out of me because I see so much absolutely horrid advice online that is geared toward new sellers… written by other new sellers or by people who don’t even sell at all! Its a mixture of “fake news” and outright ignorant “advice” that sets the new seller up for failure

With that being said, always consider the source AND remember that bad advice is often regurgitated all over the internet, which is exactly how “fake news” spreads. Let me give you an example; Drop Shipping is NOT easy, usually NOT profitable and is typically a MASSIVE HEADACHE because you’re trying to be a middleman for a product you have never seen and have 0 control over. Yet there are so many people out there telling you how simple it is…. Then they want to sell you their eBook. Why do they do this? Because they’re trying to sell you a Book, get you to sign up for their “program” or get you to their website where they hope you’ll buy stuff or at least click on ads. It's no different than those late night infomercials that used to be on television in the 90's.

So, when you see advice, EVEN IF YOU SEE IT ALL OVER THE INTERNET, before you follow the advice look at the profile of the person giving the advice.

Also, keep in mind that advice is never “one size fits all”. What worked for us to start our business may or may not work for you. What worked for one Amazon seller might not work for you.

Always avoid advice that is “too good to be true”. You ever see those YouTube ads where it’s a guy driving around his Ferrari and showing you his mansion then telling you to buy his eBook to learn something? You do know that MOST of those "YouTube Commercial Guys" rent the house and rent the car to film the ad, don’t you? Didn’t you ever wonder why the house is always spotlessly clean yet the guy supposedly “works from home”? I work 15+ hours a day and I can assure you my house is NEVER spotless. I can also promise you that my car is never clean either. BUT when I rent a house off Vrbo it is always beautiful.

Ask yourself this: If this guy has figured out the easy way to success, why does he want to create hundreds of thousands of direct competitors?

Additionally, If this guy is making sooooo much money off of whatever he is selling, why is he spending his time trying to sell me this book for $9.99? Heck, it’s hard for me to find time to write these FREE educational articles for you but I really want to spread REAL ADVICE. I have to make time to write these late at night or in between cleaning out my fish tanks on weekends. I def do not have time to drive around filming myself trying to sell you stuff. I know our site is good, if you want to buy wholesale you will, WITHOUT me throwing stories of wealth and endless riches at you.
