Poshmark Buyers Share the 11 Most Annoying Things Sellers Do

Posted by Big Brand Wholesale.com on 18th Feb 2022

If you sell on Poshmark (or any marketplace, for that matter), you should take the time to read this blog post because it can help improve your business.

I came across this pretty interesting thread on Reddit, in which PoshMark buyers were venting, regarding the frustrations they share with online sellers.  So, check out this list and see if you are committing any of these "crimes":

1. Overuse of Emojis in Listing

2. Overuse of Emojis after winning Love It or List It

3. Annoying use of Caps: "bUyErs cAn AsK qUEsTioNs! i RePlY FaST!" or TYPING THE LISTING IN ALL CAPS BECAUSE THEY THINK IT LOOKS BETTER LIKE THAT.  THEY DO NOT REALIZE IT IS ACTUALLY HARDER TO READ AND SEEMS LIKE THEY ARE YELLING AT THE BUYER.

4. Really super mega annoying Misspellings:

- CLOTHS instead of CLOTHES. For example: "I can put together a nice bundle of cloths for you!"

- Using SELL instead of SALE. "This dress is for sell because I didn't need it for the wedding"

- Equally, SALE instead of SELL.

- STRIPPED instead of STRIPED. “The dress is stripped.”

- PATTEN instead of PATENT

- PLAID instead of FLANNEL (or Flannel instead of Plaid)

- CHECKER instead of PLAID

- RAZORBACK instead of RACER-BACK

- SEQUENCE instead of SEQUINS.  "These pants have sequence on the back pocket"

- VINTAGE instead of USED

- LEATHER instead of PLEATHER / PATENT LEATHER

- "VEGAN LEATHER"  Although this isn't a misuse of a word, people seeking genuine leather become very annoyed. Buyers would much prefer that your listing is titled "Pleather" or "Patent Leather".

5. If a buyer Likes one item, Sellers who immediately make a bundle for them.  The buyer feels forced to purchase the bundle.

6. Packages wrapped up in ribbons and bows with gifts added in. Numerous buyer complain that they feel like it is wasteful and they feel guilty throwing it all away.  Other buyers complain that its taking up space in their little trash can.

7. Sellers who lie about the original price by grossly inflating it.

8. Sellers using random tags in their descriptions and flooding the style tag with unrelated things (like a pair of denim shorts), or “not actually insert brand, tagged for exposure!”

9. Irrelevant replies, such as asking for measurements and the response is “I’m 5’3 and it fits me!”

10. Incorrect Condition: When an item is described as being "excellent used condition" and then the description goes onto say "missing button", "seams undone" or something like that.

11. Skimping on the Listing or when the sellers only description is “see photos”.
