Amazon Buyer May Spend 20 YEARS in Prison for Bogus Product Returns

Posted by Big Brand Wholesale.com on 26th Oct 2021

If you're an Amazon seller, or buyer for that matter, this made me smile because as an online seller, scammers like this person really hurt businesses and drive up cost to consumers.  Here's the story, Enjoy!

An Amazon shopper named Hudson Hamrick made expensive purchases for five years.  These pricey Amazon items included a high end iMac Pro, Fuji products, Asus and other luxury electronics.

After receiving the merchandise, Mr. Hamrick would file for a return through Amazon then proceed to ship back cheaper items while keeping the expensive merch.

Hudson Hamrick, of Charlotte, North Carolina, on Tuesday pleaded guilty in the US District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, a court filing showed.  Hamrick now faces up to 20 years in prison for wire fraud in addition to a $250,000 fine, prosecutors said.

Hopefully stories like these will be a precautionary tale for all those fraudsters out there!  Online companies are not going to put up with it!

Cheers!
