Why do Companies put C**CH, MCY, M*CY, N*RDSTR*M instead of Typing the Actual Name?

Posted by Big Brand Wholesale.com on 5th Nov 2020

Great question! Today I am going to tell you the answer.

The reason some companies cannot type some complete words is because their contract with the company does not allow them to. For example, our contact with M*CYS does not allow us to use their company name on our site, in our listings or to advertise. I know what you’re wondering and that is, “Why????”, so let me explain:

Companies like M*CYS pay a LOT of money to advertise online… an absolute fortune. They want to make sure that when someone Google Searches for their company name, all of the results are for only their company:

What they DON’T WANT is for this to happen: If someone Google Searches “Big Brand Wholesale”, look what shows up:

As you can imagine, this is not helpful for our company or any company. The goal is to have 100% of the first page of search results. Now imagine this happening to M*CYS but instead of the search result being a competitor, like Saks, instead it is one of their wholesale liquidators that they sell to; this would be a nightmare because M*CYS would literally lose business to the wholesaler because who is going to buy a $100 blouse from M*CYS when they can buy the same thing from the wholesaler for $15? So, the solution is to force the wholesaler to not use the company name, therefore eliminating direct competition.
