USPS Announces New Surcharge Fee for Ebay & Etsy Sellers 2022

Posted by Big Brand Wholesale.com on 27th Mar 2022

If you're an eBay seller who purchases postage through eBay you will be hit with a new fee on certain parcels.  Etsy has also jumped on board.  Here's what you need to know:

Starting April 3, 2022, a new fee will automatically be applied (in addition to postage) for sellers who ship long, skinny items and purchase postage through eBay (or Etsy).  This will impact all sellers who ship things like posters, lamps, tall decor, etc... anything long and thin-ish.  As eCommerceBytes.com points out, "an example of a seller of movie posters will pay a new $4 nonstandard fee for a tube greater than 22″ and a new $15 nonstandard fee for a tube greater than 30″"  again, this charge is in addition to the postage. Etsy summarized this new fee in its Seller Handbook (March 2022).

And if you're thinking of trying to fudge the dimensions of the parcel just a tad to avoid the fee, you will be hit with an ADDITIONAL $1.50 surcharge for "incorrect dimensions"
