Liquidations, Store Returns, Salvage: What Percentage of Damage Should I Expect?

Posted by Big Brand Wholesale.com on 14th Nov 2020

The amount of damaged items in a lot depends on two main factors:

1. What wholesale supplier you buy through. I cannot express how important this is. ALL WHOLESALERS ARE NOT EQUAL! We are each our own, independent business and every wholesaler is completely different! I will explain more about this shortly.

2. What TYPE of wholesale you are buying. There’s 5 main Types of Wholesale and each type has different volumes of imperfect pieces; Traditional Wholesale, Overstocks, Liquidations, Store Returns and Salvage. Click on image below to enlarge:

If you are new to buying wholesale you may automatically assume that people don’t want any damaged items and do everything imaginable to avoid them like COVID-19, however this simply is not true. We have tens-of-thousands of buyers who specifically want Store Returns and thousands of buyers who only buy when it’s a Salvage listing. Like the old saying goes, “One mans trash is another mans treasure” - it’s true! So whether you want straight-from-the-factory “traditional wholesale” or whether you want Liquidations, the most important thing is to find a badass wholesale company because if you do not pay attention to what exactly you are buying you may end up with this:

So now lets discuss how different wholesalers can be.  Here's a couple reviews of our competitor companies that demonstrate the difference between picking a good wholesaler vs a terrible company:

Now let's Now compare that with our Google Reviews and Facebook Reviews for our company, BigBrandWholesale.com:

So as you can see from this super quick comparison, choosing a good wholesaler makes a world of difference!

We previously wrote How to Spot a Scam Wholesale Company and Wholesale Company Review Scams on our blog for wholesale buyers however I think the easiest way to compare the good verse bad is to look this simple graph:

The list shown above is the 5 most basic differences between a great wholesale company and a sub-par business. Awful companies will intentionally dump garbage on their buyers because they have no intention on the buyer ever purchasing again… and this is why they don’t stay in business long. It is very, very rare to see a 1-star wholesale company that has been in business longer than 4 years. Good companies make an effort to accurately describe exactly what they are selling and provide speedy customer service (our company has been around since 2005 and there are only a couple wholesalers who have lasted this long).  So, before you pick a wholesale company be sure to look at reviews, thoroughly read the Terms and also carefully examine the products you will be purchasing so you can understand the expected damage level.
