A Selling Site to AVOID Like The Plague (or CoronaVirus) RecycleYourFashions.com

Posted by Big Brand Wholesale.com on 8th Jul 2020

This article is 100% based on our own research in addition to internet reviews. We have not personally used this site, nor would we….because the research and reviews output horrendous experiences.  We write these articles because we are a wholesaler and we want our buyers to sell on sites that make them successful because the faster they sell, the quicker they become a repeat buyer for us.  Let's begin!

RECYCLE YOUR FASHION

I kept seeing all over the internet “RecycleYourFashions” is not only a GREAT place to sell but you get paid while they do ALL of the work! ...anything that sounds too good to be true definitely makes my ears perk up. It’s been a while since we have done an investigation so this excited me... because it is WAS true, then this would be a wonderful way for our wholesale buyers to make even more money.  (SPOLIER ALERT:  IT IS NOT TRUE!)

FIRST, what does RecycleYourFashion claim to be?

They have a LOT of claims. They claim to be a consignment shop that gives you a giant 50% or more per sale. All you have to do is just ship them all of your stuff.  They also claim to load you up with referral cash; for every person you refer they give you a massive $25 referral bonus!  Heck, they even claim to be raved about by Hallmark, PC Mag and more. Wow.

So how exactly is this supposed to work?

STEP 1: You pay the cost to purchase 1-50 items on your own (for example, you could buy a small wholesale Lot from BigBrandWholesale.com or you just just clean out your closet)

STEP 2: Then, RecycleYourFashions lists them and does the work to sell them. (Oh my! What a GREAT deal!)

STEP 3: When they sell you get a 50% cut of the sale price!  (Really? You'll do all the work AND give me HALF?)

STEP 4: After 51 items are sold, your commission goes up to 55%. (Seriously? After YOU sell 51 of my items you'll pay me even more?!)

STEP 5: After 250 items are sold, you get 60%.  ....Wow!  Sounds great, right?!?

BUSTING A SCAM

Our investigation began but just look at RecycleYourFashions.com.  I noticed on their homepage they advertise “HOT OF THE PRESS!” and have the CBS logo, Forbes, Hallmark and other huge names, so I started clicking links.

HOWEVER, I quickly discovered that most of the links are bogus.  For example, if you click "Hallmark" you are brought to this page:

There is indeed a mention on Forbes.com in an article about general places that will buy your unwanted clothing… clearly the author of the article did 0 actual research… which is exactly how “fake news” and misinformation gets spread all over the internet.  Frowny face + Angry face!

NEXT, I also looked up their address (1874 Catasauqua Rd. Suite 427 Allentown, PA 18109)… the only thing I can find listed it the UPS store which offers Mailboxes (PO Boxes):

NOTE: I could be wrong about the address being for the UPS store.  Perhaps this is a multiple tenant complex, but I cannot find further evidence of #427 existing at 1874 Catasauqua Rd.

BAD REVIEWS

Of course you can't have an investigation without looking at reviews.  I actually could not find ANY good reviews that seem REAL.  All I could find is really terrible reviews:

All of the reviews state that RecycleYourFashions steals from you; meaning, they keep / sell your stuff and never pay you... yeah, I would consider that theft too. These awful reviews date back to 2013!!

BUT, As you probably know, reviews online can be total crap, so I decided to use the RecycleYourFashion “Contact Us” page and send them an email. ...That was 63 days ago and I still have not gotten a reply.

So maybe you’re thinking “Well maybe they’re not in business anymore” - ok, I hear you, BUT, if you go out of business wouldn’t you take down your website that tells people to ship their stock to you???  In fact, on Google their business address is marked as "Permanently Closed" however their site is still fully operational.

All of this combined means we have to officially give RecycleYourFashion a rating:
