Woman Busted Stealing $250,000 in Postage from USPS

Last year we discussed a lot of scams, fake postage scams and mail scams but this one is pretty gosh darn crazy. Here's what happened:
This 45-year-old lady named Fanice Reed apparently needed a ton of postage. Personally, I suspect she is an online seller because the amount of postage she needed doesn't seem to make sense otherwise. Anyways, so Mrs. Reed started going to USPS in 2019 and purchasing bulk postage then writing a check for payment, problem being that the checks were completely fake. Reed made 100% counterfeit checks that displayed the name of a non-existent law firm, which she claimed was a firm she owns. The bank account numbers on the check were also totally fictitious, so when USPS tried to deposit the checks they didn't clear.
USPS became suspicious of this customer and eventually asked to see her drivers license, which she did produce, however the license was as bogus as the checks!
Reed continued to run this scheme for 11 more months and during this time she was able to steal a whopping $258,400 worth of postage! INSANE!
Unfortunately, details of how the Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado got involved are not available but what we do know is that Reed was given 27 months in jail and also ordered to pay back over $70,000 in restitution.
