Online Sellers: FAKE “TESTER PERFUMES” Actually Exist! Be Careful Who You Buy Through!!

When I was writing our blog post “The Difference Between EDP and EDT”, during my research I came across this outstanding website called Acharr.com, who I believe is located in Malaysia. What really impressed me is their thorough knowledge of the perfume world in addition to their company hating counterfeiters as much as we do here at BigBrandWholesale.com. Both of our businesses do everything we can to fight back against the knockoff industry. Anyways, Acharr has this incredible, in-depth and excentally written blog post that I absolutely cannot resist sharing with you today so here’s what you need to know.
The photos they provide are pretty mind blowing because you can see how difficult it is to tell the difference between the authentic and the counterfeit product:
What’s scary is that Acharr, who specializes in perfume, couldn’t spot any major differences in the box except for the missing number on the bottom (I *think* this is the batch number, but I am not 100% sure, we specialize in clothing, not perfume).
But, where Acharr was able to bust these counterfeit scammers was by removing the cologne from the box and doing side-by-side comparison. Upon closer inspection the fake was filled with flaws from being designed cheap:
So, unless you have a 100% authentic bottle to compare the product to, you can see how difficult it would be to tell which one is legit.
However, as Acharr points out, the main difference was in the quality. While the authentic products scent lasted almost 48 HOURS (on clothing) after only 1 application, the knockoff products smell was gone in UNDER 3! So even though you are getting the counterfeit product for less money, you are actually spending MORE because you would go through the bottle over 10x as fast! This makes a lot of sense because in our business, primarily clothing, we know that knockoff products are made with poor quality materials and usually have stitching errors. We also know that counterfeit body care can be made with TOXIC INGREDIENTS. Speaking of that, I don’t know if I have ever told you this story before but many years ago my husband ordered a pair of (supposedly) Authentic Oakley Sunglasses online from a seller who claimed to be an authorized dealer. They shipped from Germany. The size of the glasses ended up being small so my husband gave them to our son.
That summer we went for a nature hike. The sun was shining and it was pretty hot outside. We were a mile down the trail and my son says “Mom! What is this blue stuff on my face?!” I turn around and see his glasses are LITERALLY MELTING! I rip them off his face and throw them on the ground to reassess the situation (I have to admit, melting sunglasses really caught me off guard! Mom is prepared for everything… except this, lol!).
Thankfully I had thrown them on the ground because they became super, super hot. We started to worry that they would catch fire! So I took my water out of my backpack and drenched the sunglasses. They then became cool enough to pickup. My hands were then covered in blue dye.
