FedEx Driver Arrested Stealing Delivered Packages from Homes
Posted by Big Brand Wholesale.com on 6th Feb 2022
Lately we have been discussing a lot of USPS-related crimes raging from post office managers stealing mail to customers stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of postage to everything in between, so it only seemed fitting to give you an insane FedEx crime story today. Enjoy ~
In December of last year, North Carolina police were getting a ton of reports regarding break-ins and they didn’t have a specific suspect, likely due to lack of evidence. Police used their usual tactics to try to locate the stolen merchandise, in hopes of linking it back to the culprit but were unsuccessful.
The break-ins continued until the day the case was blown wide open.
2021 ended poorly for a FedEx driver who was finally busted, thanks to a citizen having a video camera (likely a Ring Doorbell) outside of their home. The video happened to catch FedEx driver, Gregory Thomas Bufkin entering homes and walking out with packages! Basically, it seems like Mr. Bufkin would deliver items he knew were of high value, then later come back and steal them! It is known that Mr. Bufkin successfully robbed at least 11 homes before he was caught.
According to police, Bufkins charges are pretty massive and include 7 Counts of Felony Possession of Stolen Goods, 7 Counts of Breaking and Entering, 7 Counts of Larceny After Breaking and Entering and 6 Counts of Larceny of a Firearm.
Bufkin is currently being held at a NC detention center and Police are asking for local citizens help: Anyone with information on this investigation should call the sheriff's office at (828) 349-2107 or CrimeStoppers at (828) 349-2600.
TIPS FOR GETTING DELIVERIES:
If you are purchasing high-value, big ticket merchandise online, it doesn’t hurt to ask for the merchandise to be shipped discreetly if possible. This means the expensive item will arrive in plain-type packaging, so nobody but you knows what is inside. Many companies use Logo Tape, which can be excellent, especially if the carrier misplaces the parcel; the logo tape helps them locate it. However some companies ship the item in the actual box; for example, we purchased a computer tower and it was shipped in the Dell box without any form of wrapping, therefore anyone could easily see that we purchased a $2,600 tower. If Dell would have placed the tower inside of a box, nobody would know what we bought.
