Amazon FBA Supplies List: 8 Items You Need for Prep

If you want to have your merchandise Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA), meaning Amazon stores it in their warehouse and ships it for you, you will have to have it prepped. There are two methods to having it prepped; first, you can hire a FBA Prep Service Company and they will do everything for you then ship it to Amazons warehouse OR you can use some "elbow grease" and do it yourself. If you want to take the DIY route, here's a basic supplies list you will need. This list may seem like its massive, but it really isn’t. In fact, if you were to purchase merchandise, store and ship it from your home you would need almost all of these items plus shelving, so technically this is cheaper upfront than warehousing on your own.
1. CLEAR SELF-SEAL BUBBLE POUCHES (AKA “Bubble Out Bags”)
These come in assorted sizes so it is very valuable to know WHAT you need to prep before you order supplies. Obviously, if you are planning to FBA ladies rings, this will need a smaller bag than if your intention is to FBA 14" glass flower vases.
2. BUBBLE WRAP
You may or may not need bubble wrap, so once again it is best to know WHAT you are selling before you buy bubble wrap. Additionally, we strongly suggest making sure the bubble wrap is “Perforated” because this will eliminate costly time spent cutting the wrap and the added expense of wasted bubble wrap.
3. ASSORTED SIZE CLEAR POLY BAGS
If you are focused on selling in one specific niche, such as Cell Phone Cases, you do not need to invest in Assorted Size Clear Polys. You can instead get only the size you need. However if you are just starting out it is best to invest in a variety so you can figure out what specifically works best for you… plus you will have a bag for damn-near every size of item.
These may look expensive but they’re actually not. You can get a nice quality heat gun for $28 - $35 or so. A heat gun is one of those things that you only need to buy once. It will last a very long time.
Personally, we prefer Zebra brand in general however the #1 choice for Amazon FBA sellers is a Dymo Brand. Either way you want a THERMAL printer because you want your info tags to print on a sticker, be waterproof and, most importantly, NOT REQUIRE INK!!! Thermal printers print using HEAT, so there is no ink to purchase! MASSIVE SAVINGS!
TIP: You can easily find “compatible labels” that are off-brand but fit your thermal printer perfect! There’s no need to waste money on pricey name brand labels!
Here’s another item that LOOKS expensive but is actually super cheap! You can get a fabulous USB scanner for as little as $12!
