7 Ways to Fix Errors & Problems with Your BigCommerce Website

If you have your own website you absolutely will eventually run into errors / glitches; it's not just you, it happens to everyone. So here’s how to fix them:
1. CHECK THE STATUS: First, always check status.bigcommerce.com. Scroll down the page and see if this is a known error that BigCommerce is currently investigating. Every day BigCommerce will post any issues they are aware of:
If your issue is on the list all you can do is wait patiently and keep checking status.bigcommerce.com to see when the issue is resolved. Big Commerce usually resolves known problems within 3 hours.
If your issue is not a known issue, here’s your options:
2. RESTORE: If the problem is something YOU did, you can typically resolve it by restoring your template to a previous version by logging into your site, clicking STOREFRONT then THEMES. Here you can pick the version you want to restore to:
Keep in mind, you are going to lose any customizations you did to your site BUT you will NOT lose any products you have listed, you will not lose any categories or blog posts. However if you added a new graphic to the top of the website and if you changed the website colors, those will be restored to whatever the previous variation looked like. This is why it is important to save your templates on a regular basis, especially BEFORE you make changes, so if your changes suck you can easily delete them.
3. USE THE BIG COMMERCE Q&A FORUM. The forum is awesome and you can get answers lightning fast and the people are mega helpful. You may even find that your exact issue has already been posted and answered!

5. GOOGLE SEARCH YOUR PROBLEM. You can often find an answer just by Googling your issue.
6. CONTACT BIG COMMERCE. Big Commerce has really amazing customer service. I prefer to use Live Chat. Often the Live Chat employee can help you fix the issue but when they can’t they will escalate the case to Tech Support.
If you open an Email Support Ticket, the amazing thing about Big Commerce is that they address your issue very quickly; typically within 12 hours, even on weekends!
Usually Tech Support can help you fix an issue super quick HOWEVER, the tech expert you get is a random selection. Most are amazing but some are completely unhelpful. The unhelpful ones will tell you an issue is fixed when it is not. This is very frustrating.
